Outdoor Learning

The benefits of Outdoor Learning are wide ranging and include a growth in self-esteem, confidence and independence and developing a love of the natural world.

We are very fortunate to have extensive grounds with well-established trees and bushes, providing a wonderful back-drop for exploration across the seasons. We support children to explore nature and engage in outdoor learning activities as part of the children's continuous provision and day to day play, rather than this being an ';add on' activity, only accessible to a few at a time.

Our focus is on the natural world.  We plant and harvest fruit and vegetables, look at the creatures we observe including birds and minibeasts; learn to whittle using vegetable peelers and use a hand drill to animal habitats or our own imaginative creations.  We dig in the mud and we explore the changing seasons such as collecting rain water to measure, mud painting, making potions with blossom or making an apple crumble with collected produce from our trees.
